POM 365 + Bonus Poms

Pom  365 is my year-long commitment to making pom pom art every single day.

Behold every Pom I’ve created from day one until today:

Orange and pink cotton pom pom characters with googly eyes resembling singer Robert Palmer and the Robert Palmer Girls poses in front of a royal blue glitter background

This English singer–songwriter, musician, and record producer is known for his powerful, soulful voice, satire, and elegance. While his four-decade career incorporated every kind of music, he is best known for his rock hit “Addicted to Pom.” As a rather mischievous Pom child, he lived in Malta and was influenced by his parents’ love of soul, blues, and jazz. Island Records signed him to his first solo deal, and he recorded the album “Sneaking Sally Through the Alley,” He moved to New York and hung out with Duran Duran before eventually forming the band The Power Station – which ended badly. But after this blip in his career, he moved to the Bapomas and recorded the album “Riptide” in 1985 which spawned “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You Pom,” and the aforementioned “Addicted to Pom.” He then recorded the Album “Heavy Nova” which included the hit “Simply Irresistible” (a still from the video is pictured here). He won 2 Grammys during his career (for “Simply Irresistible” and “Addicted to Pom”) and had two Pom children. This charming gentlepom made some pomtastic music!

There are around 300 species of Pomtopuses. They swim through the deep seas or coral reefs depending on their species, and they can squeeze into tight spaces because they have no skeletons. They are pomvertibrates with eight arms called tentacles that are covered with two rows of sucker senses. Pomtopuses have hard beaks that they use to eat their pray – crabs and shellfish. Not only are they highly intelligent, but they are highly loving because they have three hearts. They also have several defenses, including changing the color of their skin so they are camouflaged, jet propulsion with their tentacles, and ejecting black ink. Odee uses his ink to write novellas and love poems (plus the occasional haiku). He loves romance and squeezing his pomvertibrate body into his cave with his pomvertibrate soulmate, Octavia. They met on the dating site, Plenty of Pomtopuses. There is a lot of hugging that can be done with 16 arms!

Florange is a very special Pom for many reasons. She is the only Pom with a name that rhymes with “orange.” An orange vehicle says you are a fun–loving and trendy person. So, Florange frequently drives her orange Tezlah to Pomtana Ave. in Santa Pomica so she can see the latest goodies in all of the boutiques. Frank Pomnatra loved the color Orange, saying that “Orange is the happiest of colors.” Old Blue Eyes” may have wished he was “Old Orange Eyes.” Orange is the National color of the Netherlands, and International Orange is the color of the Golden Gate Bridge. Vincent Pom Gogh said, “You can’t have blue without yellow and without orange,” so that is why Florange has touches of iridescent blue. She loves spending time in her Orange County home, with an orange picket fence, watching “Orange is the New Black” with her Clown Fish, Gil, as they snack on Cheetos and drink Orange Crush. Florange is about maximum joy and pleasure and maximum Orangeosity.
